Collection: Identity Crisis
I will be forever grateful for the sacrifices my parents made; leaving behind their family and friends; moving to a new country and adapting to a new culture in order to provide my siblings and I with experiences and opportunities they did not have in their childhood.
As I have become older and a little wiser, I've come to realise that I'm living my parent's lives in reverse. Whilst I'm living my life here in Australia, I have a deep burning desire longing for Philippines (and it's not just the Jollibee calling).
Although we Filipinos do very well at embracing a different culture, adapting and blending in, deep down there is an innate desire to connect with the motherland, to experience our own kultura and rediscover family roots. I have had conversations with some of my Pinoy mates in Melbourne and they are experiencing the same thing as I am; a longing desire to belong and be accepted.
